Golden Eagle Baseball Team to Face UW-Stout on Thursday

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team travels to Minneapolis, Minn. to face the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Thursday, March 6. First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 am at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
The Golden Eagles will look to continue the momentum gained from their season-opening doubleheader sweep of Northland College (Wis.) last Thursday. U of M, Crookston took game won by a 4-0 score before capturing game two 13-4.
The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 2-0. They are led by Alex Gregor (Fr, 1B/RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) who is hitting .750 (3 for 4) with one run batted in (RBI), Shawn Motl (So, 3B/RHP, Staples, Minn.) who is hitting .500 (3 for 6) with two RBI, Paul Krebs (Jr, RHP/C, Little Falls, Minn.) who is hitting .500 (2 for 4) and Kayle Lewellen (Jr, IF, Forest Lake, Minn.) who is hitting .429 (3 for 7) with four RBI. Lewellen also has a homerun and a triple. Matt Morin (Sr, OF, Grand Forks, N.D.), Jordan Triestram (So, IF/RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) and Tyler Reiner (Jr, C/RHP, Sanborn, Minn.) are all hitting .333 (2 for 6). Triestram has four RBI while Reiner has one. Krebs is 1-0 on the hill with a 0.00 earned run average (ERA) and 11 strikeouts. Nick Wright (So, RHP, Grand Forks, N.D.) is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and two strikeouts.
The University of Wisconsin-Stout finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 23-19 and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) record of 13-11. The Blue Devils lost in the third round of the 2007 WIAC play-offs. It will be the season opener for UW-Stout.
