(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Hunt Equestrian team had a very successful show on Saturday, March 1. They were the Reserve High Point team for the first time this season. It was a great ending to the regular season.
Laura Critchett (Fr, Shoreview, Minn.) placed third against tough competition in the Open Flat Division. Kayla Klein (Fr, Hazen, N.D.) placed third in the Novice Flat Division. Amber Miller (Sr, DePere, Wis.) placed second in her Novice Flat Division, qualifying for the regional competition and boosting her into the Intermediate Division. In the Advanced Walk Trot Canter Division, Lindy Hausauer (Jr, Moorhead, Minn.) won the class and Paige Harty (So, Waseca, Minn.) took second. In the Beginner Walk Trot Canter Division, Megan Claybundy (Fr, International Falls, Minn.) won her class and Jenae Hanson (So, Andover, Minn.) placed third. This was Claybundy’s first hunt show. Brittney Skoien (So, Wannaska, Minn.), riding for her first time on the hunt team, placed third in her Beginner Walk Trot Canter Division. In Walk-Trot, Janice Holdvogt (So, Eden Valley, Minn.) took second place, Heather Donati-Lewis (Fr, St. Cloud, Minn.) took third and Andrea Reed (Sr, Williston, N.D.) took sixth out of nine riders in the class.
On Sunday, the team was third overall and missed the Reserve High Point by just one point. Nicole Veres (So, Random Lake, Wis.) placed third in the Novice Jumping Division then second in Novice Flat Division. Kayla Klein took third place in her Novice Flat Division and qualified for the regional competition. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter, Lindy Hausauer and Paige Harty were the top placers once again. This time Harty won the class and Hausauer came in second. Harty’s victory qualified her for the regional competition. In Beginner Walk Trot Canter, Jenae Hanson took second place in a tough class against ten riders, while Brittney Skoien took fourth and Megan Claybundy took fifth. In Walk Trot, Andrea Reed took second place.
Chrissy Radintz (So, Maple Grove, Minn.), Jenae Hanson, Kayla Klein, Paige Harty and Amber Miller have all qualified for the regional competition and will compete on April 12 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
