Golden Eagle Baseball Team Drops Doubleheader to UW-Stout

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team traveled to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome for a non-conference doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Stout today. The Blue Devils came away victorious taking game one by a 7-3 score and the nightcap by a 13-5 margin.
Game One
UW-Stout overcame a 3-2 deficit to take home a 7-3 win. The Golden Eagles were led by Paul Krebs (Jr, RHP/C, Little Falls, Minn.) who was 2 for 3 with a double and one run batted in (RBI). Jake Poehler (Fr, OF, Coon Rapids, Minn.) added a double and two RBI. Krebs took the loss on the hill going 5.2 innings allowing seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits while striking out four and walking two. Mike White was 3 for 3 with three RBI for UW-Stout.
Game Two
The Blue Devils opened up a 10-0 lead after four innings and never looked back on their way to a 13-5 victory. Kayle Lewellen (Jr, IF, Forest Lake, Minn.) had a hit, a run scored and an RBI for the Golden Eagles. Eric Paul was 4 for 4 with four RBI for UW-Stout. He had a two-run homerun and two doubles.
U of M, Crookston drops to 2-2 on the year while UW-Stout improves to 2-0. The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16 when they travel to Sioux City, Iowa for non-conference doubleheaders against Morningside College. First pitch is slated for 1:30 pm each day.
