Steinbrink Named NSIC Softball Player of the Week

(St. Paul, Minn.)- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) announced that Shawna Steinbrink (Jr, 3B, Crookston, Minn.) has been named Player of the Week for her performance in the sweep of the University of Minnesota, Morris on Friday, March 14 in Minnetonka, Minn. The Golden Eagles defeated the Cougars 11-2 and 11-3 in the double-header.
Steinbrink had a career night finishing with six RBI in the two victories. In game one, Steinbrink went 3-3 at the plate with a double, one home run, one grand slam, five RBI and had a huge slugging percentage of 3.333. Defensively she had three assists and a fielding percentage of 1.000. In the sweep, Steinbrink batted .833 (5-6) with six RBI, 13 total bases, a slugging percentage of 2.167, two walks (one intentional) and an on-base percentage of .875.
The Golden Eagles are now 4-2 overall on the season after sweeping Crown College on Tuesday, March 18. The team returns to the field on Saturday, March 29 against Morningside College at the Morningside Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. First pitch is set for 10:00 a.m.
