Golden Eagle Softball Travels to Sioux City, Iowa this Weekend for Morningside College Tournament

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Softball team returns to action this weekend as the team travels to Sioux City, Iowa to participate in the Morningside Spring Softball Tournament on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30. The team will then travel directly to Rosemount, Minn. to take on North Central University on Monday, March 31 at the Irish Dome in Rosemount.
The Golden Eagles will play Morningside College on March 29 at 10:00 a.m. The team then takes on Dordt College at noon to wind down the first day of play. On Sunday Minnesota, Crookston plays the University of Sioux Falls at 10:00 a.m. followed by Midland Lutheran at 2:00 p.m. On Monday the team plays an early morning game, facing North Central University at 9:00 a.m.
Minnesota, Crookston opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday April 6 at the Wayne State College Crossover in Wayne, Neb. The Golden Eagles open up with Upper Iowa University at 10:00 a.m.
Player Spotlight: Sarena Diederichs (Fr, C, St. Cloud, Minn.) leads the Golden Eagles offensively on the 2008 season. She is 12-20 (.600) at the plate with a slugging percentage of .700. She is first on the team in hits (12), second in runs scored (10) and second in RBI (10). Defensively, Diederichs has 16 putouts, four assists and no errors.
