Golden Eagle Softball Against Bemidji State Cancelled

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Head Women’s Softball Coach Mitch Bakken announced this morning that the non-conference game at Bemidji State University set for Tuesday, April 15 has been cancelled due to field conditions. The Golden Eagles travel to Grand Forks, N.D. to take on UND in a non-conference double-header on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m. and return home on Thursday, April 17 to host Bemidji State University in an NSIC conference double-header. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at the UMC Softball Field.
Player Spotlight: The Golden Eagle Women’s Softball team went 0-4 last week against MSU Moorhead and the University of North Dakota. UMC lost two close games to Moorhead 2-4 and 3-6 and were out matched by UND 0-16 and 5-21. Steph Thomas (Fr, P, St. Albert, Alberta) led the Golden Eagles at the dish going 2-5 (.400) with one run scored. Tracy Nyhus (Jr, 2B, Almena, Wis.) had a solid week, batting .375 (3-8) with one double, two walks and an RBI.
The Golden Eagles are 6-11 overall and 0-7 in NSIC play. Following this week’s games, the team travels to Bismarck, N.D. for the University of Mary Crossover on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.
