(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Tennis team travels to Minneapolis, Minn. this weekend for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament hosted at the Baseline Center on the University of Minnesota campus.

The tournament will start on Saturday, April 19 at 8:00 am and conclude on Sunday, April 20. The tournament will be individually flighted from 1-6 singles and 1-3 doubles. Both singles and doubles matches will be 2-3 sets. There will also be a consolation round.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 0-12 and NSIC record of 0-7. Upper Iowa is the regular season champion (5-0) followed by Winona State (6-1), Southwest Minnesota State (5-2), Bemidji State (3-3), U-Mary (3-4), Minnesota State Moorhead (3-4), Northern State (1-6) and U of M, Crookston.

Head Coach Josh Lunak is excited with where the Golden Eagles are at right now. “I am very happy with how our team has progressed throughout the season,” says Coach Lunak. “I think we are playing our best tennis of the year. I think there are some positions in the tournament where we can do very well. Overall, Winona State and Upper Iowa are the favorites but after that it’s any one’s game. Our goal is to finish in the middle of the pack. To do that, we need to play our best tennis of the year. I am excited and the players are too.”
