Golden Eagle Volleyball Signs Danielle Rueter and Janie Bauer

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s volleyball coach Lee Anderson announced today the signing of Danielle Rueter (Burlington, Wis.) and Janie Bauer (Durand, Wis.) to letters of intent to play for the Golden Eagles in 2008.
Rueter is a 5’9, outside hitter / defensive specialist from Burlington High School in the Southeast Conference. As a sophomore, she was recognized as a Second Team All-Conference performer. Following her junior and senior seasons, she earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area and Second Team All-County volleyball honors.
“Danielle is an outstanding athlete with great ball control” says Coach Anderson. “She will provide much needed depth and competition at the outside hitter and defensive specialist positions. We are very excited to have an athlete with Danielle’s experience and ability join our family.”
Rueter plans to major in Sport and Recreation Management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Dan and Amy Rueter of Burlington, Wis.
Bauer is a 5’8, setter from Durand High School in the Middle Border Conference. Last season she played at the University of Wisconsin, Stout. During her high school career she was named All-Conference Honorable Mention (2004, 2005) and All-Conference (2006). She was named team captain for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In the classroom Bauer ranks in the top 10 percent of her class and is a member of the National Honor Society.
“Janie is a physically gifted athlete, who has a great attitude and work ethic,” commented Coach Anderson. “We are very pleased to add a person and player of Janie’s caliber to the Golden Eagle Volleyball program.”
Bauer plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Tom and Mary Bauer.
