(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Golfers Steven Busho (Sr, Blooming Prairie, Minn.) and Jake Sanders (Fr, Crookston, Minn.) closed out their 2007-08 season at the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Central Regional. The super regionals were conducted May 5-7 at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio. Busho closed out the first day tied for 33rd place shooting an 82 (+10). Busho rebounded on day two shooting a 76 (+4) to move into 30th place. He closed out an outstanding senior season shooting a 73 (+1) to finish with a three-day score of 231 (+15) good for a tie for 23rd place.
Sanders opened the regional shooting a 76 (+4) to take a share of eighth place into the second day of play. He continued his solid play shooting another 76 (+4) but the field shot extremely well and dropped Sanders into a tie for fifteenth place. Fatigue may have played a factor on day three as Sanders shot an 80 (+8) which gave him an overall score of 232 (+16) and the 26th spot in the regional.
The top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas. The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.
