Golden Eagle Baseball Signs Mitch Thompson (Deer Park, Wis.) to an Institutional Letter of Intent

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Baseball program announced today the signing of Mitch Thompson from Deer Park, Wis., to an Institutional Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009 season.
Thompson is a 5’10, 170 lb, catcher/infielder, from Amery High School of the Middle Border Conference. He was named All-Middle Border Conference last season and is currently the team’s batting leader with a .487 average. Amery was the Middle Border Conference Champions last season and qualified for the Wisconsin State Tournament.
“We are excited to have Mitch Thompson join the University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball program, “ says U of M, Crookston Head Coach Chris Vito. “He will give us quality depth both behind the plate and in the infield. Mitch’s athleticism will be a nice addition to our program.”
Thompson plans to major in Health Sciences (Pre-Professional) - Pre-Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Mike and Patty Thompson.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Golden Eagle Hockey is a member of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
