(Crookston, Minn.)– The University of Minnesota, Crookston’s Athletic Department hosted a day-long retreat at Mount St. Benedict in Crookston, Minn. on Thursday, June 29th to discuss the issues, challenges and trends that are occurring in NCAA Division II Athletics. The retreat was attended by all members of the Golden Eagle Athletic Department as well as Chancellor Charles H. Casey, D.V.M. Special guest speaker was noted Sports Psychologist Dr. Greg Dale who spoke on building a championship culture in athletics and throughout a university. “Dr. Dale’s workshop on “Building a Championship Culture” was a very valuable presentation for the staff,” says Athletics Director Stephanie Helgeson. “The ideas introduced are things that we can use in our own program as we continue to build a championship culture at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.” Dr. Dale is a Professor of Sport Psychology and Sports Ethics at Duke University. He is also the Director of Mental Training and Co-Director of the Leadership Program for Duke University. He consults with numerous high school, college and professional athletes and teams. Dr. Dale also provides leadership development and team building services to organizations such as The World Bank, Habitat for Humanity International, Pfizer Pharmaceutical, Pontiac/General Motors and SKANSKA International. He has written three books on leadership, teambuilding and parenting and has written scripts and served as the “expert” on a series of eleven videos for coaches and athletes. Dr. Dale has been featured on Good Morning America, MSNBC, Court Television and numerous national radio programs.
