Golden Eagle Softball Signs Ashley Zimmel (Coon Rapids, MN) to an Institutional Letter of Intent

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s softball coach Mitch Bakken announced today the signing of Ashley Zimmel to a UMC letter of intent to play for the Golden Eagles in 2008-09.
Zimmel is a 5’7, first baseman / catcher from Coon Rapids Senior High in the Northwest Suburban Conference. She earned the 2007 Coach Award and was named a team captain for the 2007 and 2008 squad.
“Ashley brings a lot of potential to the Golden Eagle Softball program,” says Coach Bakken. “She has the ability to learn the game and will bring depth offensively and defensively to the team. Ashley has a great attitude and I look forward to working with her next season.”
Zimmel plans to major in Criminal Justice at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Mary Jo Zimmel.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Golden Eagle Hockey is a member of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
