2008 Camp Staff

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Basketball program hosted its first annual shooting and scoring camp on June 10-12. The event was a big success as 82 campers participated in the three-day camp at Lysaker Gymnasium.

“Having over 80 participants in the first Golden Eagle shooting and scoring camp shows the commitment to athletics in our community,” says Golden Eagle Head Women’s Basketball Coach Mike Roysland. “The campers learned from some very talented and skilled basketball players. On the other side, the instructors had the opportunity to work with some of their biggest fans. It was rewarding for everyone who participated in the camp and we are already looking forward to next year’s camp.”

During the instructional camp, young players learned ball handling and shooting drills and skills that they can use everyday to improve their basketball ability. Talented instructors like former Gopher Women’s Basketball players Kelly Roysland and Leslie Knight attended the camp along with several Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball players to help the participants learn the skills taught.

The campers will have a chance to see their instructors in action on November 15, as the Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball team hosts Minnesota, Morris. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
