Golden Eagle Baseball Signs Casey Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn.) to an Institutional Letter of Intent

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Baseball program announced today the signing of Casey Woodside from Albert Lea, Minn., to an Institutional Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009 season. He will also play hockey for U of M, Crookston.
Woodside is a 6’1, 175 lb, catcher, from Albert Lea High School of the Big Nine Conference. He was named All-Big Nine Conference in 2007 and 2008. Woodside earned All-Section 1 AAA honors, was named All-Area First Team and was voted his team’s most valuable player in 2007. He also was Albert Lea High School’s batting champion that season. Woodside served as team captain in baseball this season.
In hockey, Woodside, a forward, was named All-Big Nine Honorable Mention after the 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. He was named All-Big Nine Conference and All-State Honorable Mention after the 2007-2008 season as well as his team’s most valuable player. Woodside served as team captain in hockey this season.

I am excited about the ability, athleticism and positive attitude that Casey will bring to our squad.”

Woodside is undecided on his major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Jeff and Angie Woodside.

All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
