Golden Eagle Football Attends 1st Annual NSIC Football Media Day in Mankato, Minn.

(Mankato, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston football program attended the 1st Annual Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Football Media Day on Monday, August 4 at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn. The media day was held in conjunction with the 2008 Alltel Minnesota Viking training camp held in Mankato. Coaches from all 14 NSIC teams had the opportunity to discuss their upcoming seasons and introduce two key players. Following the press conference, the 2008 NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll was announced followed by a breakout session for the media in attendance with all the head coaches and top players in the NSIC. “The 1st annual NSIC Media Day at the Vikings training camp was a fantastic event,” says Golden Eagle Head Coach Shannon Stassen. “Our players enjoyed being a part of an NFL atmosphere and speaking with the media about our upcoming season.” The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team will open their season on Saturday, August 30 when they travel to Marshall, Minn. for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match-up with Southwest Minnesota State University. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm. The Golden Eagles will open their home season on Saturday, September 6 when they play host to Mayville State University in a non-conference game. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm at Ed Widseth Field. The home opener will also be “Crookston Community Appreciation Day”.
