(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Baseball program announced today that Erik Nockleby from Roseville Minn. will play baseball for the Golden Eagles this season. Nockleby signed a National Letter of Intent with the U of M, Crookston Men’s Basketball program earlier this spring.

Nockleby is a 6’0, 165 lb, infielder/right-handed pitcher, from Roseville Area High School of the Suburban East Conference. He was named All-Conference in baseball and was a two-year letter winner. Nockleby hit .400 as a senior and played for the Rosetown American Legion Baseball team where he was named all Fourth District.

“We are excited that Erik Nockleby has decided to give baseball a shot at the University of Minnesota, Crookston as well as play basketball, “ says U of M, Crookston Head Coach Chris Vito. “It will be a challenge playing back to back sports and his primary commitment will be to Coach Oseth and the men’s basketball program. However, I feel that Erik is up to the challenge and will bring passion to both sports. He is a solid player and will give us depth in the infield and on the pitcher’s mound.  His athleticism will be a welcome addition to the Golden Eagle Baseball program.”

Nockleby plans to major in Business Management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Paul and Kathy Nockleby.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Golden Eagle Hockey is a member of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).

All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
