(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Athletic Department held its annual Women’s Golf Tournament on Tuesday, August 12 at the Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston, Minn. The tournament benefits women’s athletic scholarships at the university.

Twenty-one teams and a total of 85 participants took part in the successful, nine-hole event which started after remarks from University of Minnesota, Crookston Chancellor Dr. Charles H. Casey and Athletic Director Stephanie Helgeson.

Following the tournament, dinner was provided and a short program took place at which University of Minnesota, Crookston First Lady Barbara Muesing addressed the participants.

“We had a great day and it was wonderful to see so many women from the community out golfing,” says University of Minnesota, Crookston Athletic Director Stephanie Helgeson. “This is the most successful tournament we have had since we started it eight years ago. We are very grateful that Riverview again had a large number of participants. They have been a great supporter of this tournament. We also had two teams from Fertile and a couple alumni teams participating. The dollars raised goes towards our women’s athletic scholarship fund and it has had a remarkable impact on our student athletes. Supporting our student athletes is vital to the success of our athletic program and we are very encouraged by the support of the community at this event.”
