(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston women’s volleyball team opens the 2008 season in Omaha, Neb. on Friday, August 29th and Saturday, August 30th at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Volleyball Tournament.

The Golden Eagles play host Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, August 29th at 2:30 p.m. The team returns to the court at 7:00 p.m. to play Northwest Missouri State. On Saturday, UMC plays Rockhurst University at 11:45 a.m. followed by Northern Michigan University at 4:15 p.m. The team returns home on September 5th and 6th to host the Golden Eagle Invitational at Lysaker Gymnasium. UMC hosts Lake Superior State University and the University of Manitoba on September 5th at noon and 6:00 p.m. The University of South Dakota visits Lysaker Gymnasium on September 6th for a 4:00 p.m. game against UMC.

The Golden Eagles are led by senior captain Allison Zajicek (MH, 6’0, Beatrice, Neb.). Zajicek finished the 2007 season with 181 kills in 109 games. She led the team in block assists with 93 and total blocks with 105.
