Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Stopped 4-1 by Millikin in Season Opener

(Crookston, Minn.)- Millikin University of Decatur, Ill. scored three unanswered goals in the second half and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston in non-conference women’s soccer action today. The game was played at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis.
The Big Blue opened the scoring at 29:35 of the game when Allison Horne scored an unassisted goal to put Millikin University up 1-0.
The Golden Eagles answered at 38:07 when Kasey Castor (Fr., Mid., Northglenn, Colorado) scored from 25 yards in front of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
However, it was all Big Blue from then on as Horne added her second goal of the day at 49:41 and Brittany Belrichard added two goals at 77:01 and 79:26 respectively.
Anna Ogaard (So., GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) recorded nine saves for U of M, Crookston.
Millikin University starts the season at 1-0-0 while the Golden Eagles start at 0-1-0. The University of Minnesota, Crookston will return to action on Monday, September 1 when they take on host UW-Parkside at 12:00 pm.
