Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Settles for Double Overtime Tie

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team played a hard fought game against visiting Jamestown College today in Crookston, Minn. However, the Golden Eagles had to settle for a 2-2 double overtime tie.

 

U of M, Crookston opened the scoring at 10:33 of the game when Justine Jones (Jr., Mid/Fwd, Richland, Wash.) found the net off a pass from Alyssa Jensen (Sr., Fwd/Mid/Def, Rice Lake, Wis.).

 

Jamestown College tied the game at 16:53 when Rachel Goslinga scored off an assist from Colleen Lubke. Goslinga gave the Jimmies a one goal advantage at 19:26 when she scored her second goal off an assist from Lauren Cottom.

 

The Golden Eagles tied the game at 54:06 when Megan Gibeault (So., Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) scored off Jensen’s second assist. The goal proved to be the game’s last.

Anna Ogaard (So., GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) was once gain solid in net for the Golden Eagles recording seven saves.

 

U of M, Crookston’s record now stands at 1-2-1 while Jamestown College is 0-2-1. The Golden Eagles will return to action on Sunday, September 14 when they travel to St. Cloud State University for a non-conference match-up with the Huskies. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
