Warriors Overpower Golden Eagles in Women’s Soccer

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team put forth another valiant effort today in Crookston, Minn. However, the Winona State Warriors proved to be too much for the Golden Eagles breaking open a close game with four second-half goals on their way to a 6-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory.

 

The Warriors opened the scoring at 17:52 of the first half when Amelia Kasten scored the first of her three goals. She scored Winona State’s next two goals at 43:11 and 50:57 of the game respectively. Melissa Sellier put the Warriors up 4-0 at 68:26. Lauren Sturdevant closed out the scoring with two unassisted goals at 86:51 and 88:25 respectively.

 

The Warriors improve to 6-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the NSIC.

 

U of M, Crookston will return to action on Friday, September 26 against the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. They will travel to Bemidji State University on Sunday, September 28. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
