Hanna Leads Golden Eagles to Third Place Finish at the Winona State Fall Invite

(Winona, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston men’s golf team traveled to The Bridges Golf Club on September 21-22 to participate in the Winona State Fall Invite. The team opened the invitational shooting a 313 good for fifth place after the first day. The Golden Eagles responded on day two with the third lowest score of 302 to catapult the team into a tie for third place.

The Golden Eagles were led by Jack Hanna (FR, Lino Lakes, Minn.) who finished the invite in seventh place after shooting a team low150 (73-77). Teammate Jon Blazek (FR, Owatonna, Minn.) finished just one stroke back of Hanna. Blazek struggled a little through the first 18 holes, posting a score of 81, but regained his composer to shoot a one under 70 on the final 18 holes.

The Golden Eagles travel to the Men’s Collegiate Invite at The Oaks in Hayfield, Minn. on Saturday, September 27. The second of three tournaments to decide the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf Championship will take place this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29-30 at the Hastings C.C. in Hastings, Minn. The second of three rounds will consist of rounds of 36 and 18 holes. The final event will be two rounds of 18 played April 12-13 at The Jewel in Lake City, Minn. A total of 126 holes will be used to determine the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf Champions. After the first tournament St. Cloud State (295-294=589) holds a one stroke lead over Minnesota State (301-289=590). However, after each tournament points are award for where each team finishes multiplied by two. St. Cloud State, finishing first of 11 teams earned 22 points, MSU 20 and BSU 18.
