Bulldogs Down Golden Eagles 4-2 in Women’s Soccer

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota Duluth opened a 3-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston 4-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women’s Soccer actionFriday night in Duluth, Minn.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 3:31 of the game off a goal from Kelly Duchene. At 21:49, Maria Leider found the back of the net to put UMD up 2-0. Clare Dahmen closed out the first half scoring at 23:23 to make the score 3-0.
The Golden Eagles got on the board at 58:54 when Kelsey Palmer (So, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) scored off an assist from Kayla Wallis (Fr, Def, Lakeville, Minn.). The Bulldogs countered at 68:32 when Whitney Wilson scored to give UMD a 4-1 advantage. U of M, Crookston made the final score 4-2 when Justine Jones (Jr, Mid/Fwd, Richland, Wash.) scored an unassisted goal at 82:50.
The University of Minnesota Duluth improves to 2-6-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the NSIC.
U of M, Crookston returns to NSIC action on Sunday, September 28 when they travel to Bemidji State University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
