#2 Golden Bears Efficient in Win Over Golden Eagles

(St. Paul, Minn.)- The #2 ranked Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul played at the top of their game tonight as they defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16) at the Gangelhoff Center on the Concordia University campus.

The Golden Eagles struggled to get the offense going as the CSP defense held UMC to just 20 kills in the match. Minnesota, Crookston was led by Amber Meyer (OH, 6’2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) who finished the match with eight kills. Cassie Yates (S, 5’10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) assisted on 12 of the 20 Golden Eagle kills.

Concordia University, St. Paul used just 56 minutes to tally 46 kills and a team attack percentage of .360 (46K-15E-86TA) for the match.  Raina Hein and Emily Palkert led the Golden Bears offensively with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Hein finished with an attack percentage of .409 (13K-4E-22TA) and Palkert finished with a .421 (11K-3E-19TA) attack percentage in the match. Preseason Player of the Year Maggie McNamara finished with a game high 39 assists and 10 digs.

The Golden Eagles move to 1-12 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC. The Golden Bears improve to 16-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The team returns to the court tomorrow night to play the Huskies of St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn. First server is set for 4:00 p.m.
