Nachreiner Leads Mavericks in 3-0 Win Over Golden Eagles

(Mankato, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston volleyball team traveled to Mankato, Minn. this evening to take on the Mavericks of Minnesota State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match. Minnesota State rode the offensive firepower of Ashley Nachreiner to take the victory 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-18).
Amber Meyer (OH, 6’2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles in kills and attack percentage in the match. Meyer finished the match tied for second in kills with eight and had a .304 (8K-1E-23TA) attack percentage. She was followed closely by Ashley Allen (OH, 6’0, JR, Buffalo, Minn.) and Danielle Rueter (OH, 5’9, FR, Burlington, Wis.) who finished with seven and six kills respectively. Allen added three service aces to lead all players in the match. Cassie Yates (S, 5’10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) tallied 26 assists in the match and Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5’2, JR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) led all defenders with 17 defensive digs.
Minnesota State looked to Ashley Nachreiner to take control of the Maverick offense. She finished the match with 12 kills, a .321 (12K-3E-28TA) attack percentage and two service aces. Brittany Stamer led all setters with 34 set assists while Amanda Beekman, Nachreiner and Alli Rice each finished with 10 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles move to 2-13 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC, while the Mavericks advance to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in conference play. U of M, Crookston returns to the court tomorrow night as they take on the #7 ranked Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University. First serve is set for 5 p.m. in Marshall, Minn.
