#7 Mustangs Down Golden Eagles 3-0 in Marshall, Minn.

(Marshall, Minn.)- Southwest Minnesota State University used 47 kills and a .374 (47K-10E-99TA) team attack percentage to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-16) tonight in front of 514 Mustang fans.
SMSU’s Kasey Loeslie led all attackers in the match with 11 kills, a .429 (11K-2E-21TA) attack percentage and four block assists. She was followed closely by Laura Hegerle who tallied 10 kills on the evening. Sara Graf led all setters with 31 assists and added three service aces.
The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Katie Bonine (OH, 5’10, SO, Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Amber Meyer (OH, 6’2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) who finished with seven kills each. Cassie Yates (S, 5’10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) tallied 22 assists and has now recorded over 3,000 assists in her career.
The Golden Eagles move to 2-14 overall and 2-5 in the NSIC, while the Mustangs advance to 18-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. U of M, Crookston returns home on October 10-11 to host Wayne State and Augustana. Match times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
