(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston women’s volleyball team announced today that the Golden Eagles will host a “Dig for the Cure” match on Saturday, October 18th in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. U of M, Crookston will host the Dragons of MSU Moorhead at 7 p.m. that evening in Lysaker Gymnasium. Remember to wear something pink to show your support for breast cancer awareness. 

The volleyball team and staff will be soliciting pledges throughout October.  There are two ways that you can pledge your support to the “Dig for the Cure”.

1.     You can pledge a flat rate amount.  $25.00 is the recommended pledge, but any dollar amount is welcome!  This is a great option if you want to know exactly how much you’ll be pledging or if you want to pay your pledge amount up front.

2.     You can pledge per dig that the Golden Eagles tally during the match with MSU Moorhead.  UMC is currently averaging about 13 digs per game. If you pledged $1.00 per dig and the team is consistent in their defensive performance, a three-game match would equal $39.00, a four-game match $52.00, and a five-game match $65.00.  (Please remember that these numbers are an approximation and that your total amount pledged can vary if we tally more or less digs than our average and it will also depend on how many games the match goes—it could be anywhere from three to five games). 100% of the proceeds raised by the volleyball team during this community service project will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Minnesota affiliates.  The Golden Eagle Volleyball team will also accept donations at the gate on the night of the match.
