(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) got the offense started too late this afternoon again St. Cloud State University. The Huskies held the Golden Eagles to zero first downs in the first half and seven total first downs in the game on the on the way to a 48-7 SCSU victory on a slippery Ed Widseth Field.
 
The Huskies scored 27 first half points to put UMC into a first half deficit. SCSU spread out the scoring with four different players finding the end zone in the half and recorded 319 total yards to UMC’s 43. UMC looked to turn things around in the second half. St. Cloud’s Fred Williams had different thoughts has he took the opening kick-off of the third quarter 85-yards for a Husky score. Six minutes later, Michael Graham got into the act with an 85-yard rushing touchdown of his own. The Golden Eagles found the SCSU end zone with 2:28 left in the third quarter. UMC put together a sensational 11 play, 77 yard drive that took 5:59 and was capped off with a 1-yard run by quarterback Tim Ennis (QB, 6’2, 205, SO, Lancaster, Calif.). Jake Machacek added a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for SCSU to take the 48-7 victory.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by Ennis who didn’t record a rushing yard in the first half, but scampered for 108 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown in the second half. Tyler Dugan (DB, 5’11, 180, Irvine, Calif.) led the UMC defense with seven (4 solo, 3 assisted) total tackles and one interception. Travis Coulson (P, 6’3, 255, SR, Crescent City, Calif.) led the special team unit with eight punts for 305 yards (38.1 avg.), two inside the SCSU 20-yard line and a long of 63-yards.
 
St. Cloud was led offensively by Michael Graham who rushed for 124-yards, with a long of 85-yards and one touchdown. Graham averaged 11.3 yards per carry in the contest. Quarterback Mitch Watkins was 8-16 for 181-yards and one touchdown. David Kamin led all defenders with 11 (5 solo, 6 assisted) total tackles in the game.
 
The Golden Eagles are now 2-5 overall and 1-5 in the NSIC, while the Huskies move to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC. UMC travels to Bemidji State University next weekend to take on the Beavers.
