(Bismarck, N.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Women’s Volleyball team took over a share of ninth place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) victory over the University of Mary tonight in Bismarck, N.D.
 
The Golden Eagles controlled much of the match only relinquishing the lead seven times with five of those coming in the third and final set. UMC slugged a season high .340 (47K-11E-106TA) attack percentage and committed a season low 11 attack errors. Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) paced all attackers in the match, falling one kill shy of her season and career high with 19. Meyer added to her personal record book with a career high .562 (19K-1E-32TA) attack percentage in the victory. Aiding Meyer in her success was setter Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) who assisted on 38 of the 47 Golden Eagles kills and paced all setters in the match. Heather Foreman (OH, 5-10, SR, Brandon, Manitoba) tallied double-digit defensive digs for the second match in a row with 14 to lead all defenders.
 
The Marauders were led by Laci Murtha who recorded nine kills and four block assists in the match. Anna Silha and Justina Rudzitis split time at the setter position with 15 and 13 assists respectively.
 
U of M, Crookston is now 3-16 overall and 3-7 in the NSIC. The Marauders fall to 3-19 overall and 1-9 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles host MSU Moorhead on Saturday, October 18 in the “Dig for the Cure Match”. First server is set for 7 p.m. in Lysaker Gymnasium.
