Fighting Sioux Down Golden Eagles 8-1 in Women’s Soccer

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of North Dakota exploded for six first-half goals and added two more in the second-half on their way to an 8-1 victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston today in non-conference women’s soccer. They held the Golden Eagles to three shots on goal.

 

The Fighting Sioux were led by Lauren Herrmann (12:34 & 22:20) and Alex Zarling (37:04 & 74:15) who scored two goals each. Rachael Loomis scored a goal (17:46) and also added two assists. Becca Krynski added a goal (9:51) and an assist while Veronica Zischka (13:26) and Sarah Penner (76:31) each added a goal.

 

The University of Minnesota, Crookston’s lone goal was scored by Megan Gibeault (So, Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) in unassisted fashion at 47:11.

 

The University of North Dakota improves to 4-10-0 while the University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 2-11-1 on the season.

 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 18 when they play host to Minnesota State University Moorhead in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) encounter. Game time is set for 1 p.m. U of M, Crookston will travel to Jamestown College on Sunday, October 19 for a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
