Two Second-Half Goals Doom Golden Eagles

(Crookston, Minn.)- Minnesota State University Moorhead broke a scoreless tie with two second-half goals and defeated the University of Minnesota, Crookston 2-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women’s Soccer action today in Crookston, Minn.
Both teams battled to no avail in the first half. However, MSU Moorhead’s Tricia Vanyo broke through the U of M, Crookston defenders at 59:30 and found the back of the net with an unassisted goal to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same until the 76:55 mark when Abby Barker scored off an assist from Ashley Rietz.
MSU Moorhead improves to 6-6-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles drop to 2-12-1 overall and 1-8-0 in the NSIC.
U of M, Crookston will return to action on Sunday, October 19 when they travel to Jamestown College for a non-conference match. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
