Peacocks Take Three of Four Sets from Golden Eagles 25-23 in 3-1 Victory

(Fayette, Iowa)-  The University of Minnesota, Crookston and Upper Iowa played a consistent match tonight as the teams went four sets with all sets ending in a 25-23 score. The Peacocks took three of the four sets and the match victory 3-1 at Dorman Gym.

Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles with nine kills in the match. She added four block assists as U of M, Crookston tied a season high with 18 block assists in the match. Heather Foreman (OH, 5-10, SR, Brandon, Manitoba) trailed Meyer with eight kills and finished the match with a .318 (8K-1E-22TA) attack percentage. Defensively, Foreman led all players with 13 digs. Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) tallied 36 of the team’s 42 set assists. Andrea Hubbell (MH, 6-1, SO, Isle, Minn.) tied a season high with seven kills. She finished the match with a team high .353 (7K-1E-17TA) attack percentage and four block assists. Allison Zajicek (MH, 6-0, SR, Beatrice, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles with five block assists and added seven kills.

The Peacocks were led by Kim Humpal who knocked down 13 kills and finished with a .385 (13K-3E-26TA) attack percentage. Shea Meyermann and Beth Deutmeyer finished with 10 kills apiece. Meyermann, Tatiana Jackson and Dani Coppin each finished with 11 defensive digs in the victory.

The Golden Eagles fall to 3-18 overall and 3-9 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Peacocks move to 11-14 overall and 3-10 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston travels to Winona State University tomorrow to take on the Warriors. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
