(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) came into this afternoon’s game with the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) looking to play spoiler as the Bulldogs were a perfect 9-0 overall coming into the game. The upset was not to be as a balanced UMD offense recorded 565 yards of total offense in the 63-7 victory at Ed Widseth Field.
 
The Bulldogs scored 28 unanswered points in the first quarter, led by runningback Issac Odim who scored two of UMD’s first quarter touchdowns. Brad Foss and D.J. Winfield also found the endzone in the first quarter for the Bulldogs. Minnesota, Crookston held Duluth off the scoreboard for half of the second quarter before UMD scored 21 to go into halftime with a 49-0 lead. The Golden Eagles found the UMD endzone at the 6:46 mark of the third quarter. David Anderson (RB, 6-0, 180, FR, Winnipeg, Manitoba) fumbled at the UMD one yard-line after a 10-yard rush. The fumble was recovered by UMC’s Mario Perez (OL, 6-1, SO, Colton, Calif.) in the Duluth endzone for his first career score. UMD scored 14 points in the third quarter and both teams were held scoreless in the fourth quarter for the 63-7 final.
 
Kalil Field-Mackall (RB, 5-11, 220, El Paso, Tex.) led the way offensively for the Golden Eagles. He caught three passes for 43 yards with a long of 24 yards. Quarterback Jake Poehler (QB, 6-1, FR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) led the ground attack averaging six yards per rush and finishing the day with 36 total rushing yards. Anderson rushed for 33 yards on eight carries for a 4.1 yards/rush average. Tyler Dugan (DB, 5-11, 180, SR, Irvine, Calif.) led UMC defensively with eight (8 assisted) total tackles.
 
The Bulldog ground attack was led by Isaac Odim who rushed 10 times for 131 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Ted Schlafke completed 13 of 19 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Schlafke’s main target was Tony Doherty who caught five passes for 55 yards. The Bulldog defense was led by Max Phillips who recorded eight (2 unassisted, 6 assisted) total tackles.
 
The Golden Eagles are now 2-8 overall and 1-8 in the NSIC, while the Bulldogs move to 10-0 overall and 9-0 in the NSIC. UMC travels to Fayette, Iowa on Saturday, November 8 to play the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University.
