Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Closes Out Season With a 4-0 Loss

(Crookston, Minn.)- Southwest Minnesota State University scored two goals in each half on their way to a 4-0 shut-out victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) today in Marshall, Minn. The game was the 2008 season finale for the Golden Eagles.

 

Heather Holmes scored the game’s first two goals at 2:02 and 11:08 respectively to put the Mustangs up 2-0. Kelly Fitzgerald and Ashley Elbers scored at 49:30 and 69:00 respectively to make the final score 4-0. Kendra Olechefske recorded the shut-out with five saves.

 

The Mustangs improve to 3-14-0 overall and 3-10-0 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston ends the 2008 season with an overall record of 3-16-1 and NSIC record 2-11-0.

 

The Golden Eagles bid farewell to four seniors. They are Richelle Copiak (Sr, Fwd, Calgary Alberta, Canada), Vanessa Copiak (Sr, Def/Mid, Calgary, Alberta, Canada), Amber Erdmann (Sr, Def/Mid/Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) and Alyssa Jensen (Sr, Fwd/Mid/Def, Rice Lake, Wis.).
