(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey player Jacob Schira (Fr, G, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA).
Schira, a freshman goaltender, stopped 24 of 26 shots in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Bethel University in his college debut on Friday night. He recorded a .923 saves percentage.
Schira is a sport and recreation management major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 when they play host to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in the MCHA opener for both teams. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively at the Crookston Civic Arena.
