Golden Bears Stay Perfect in NSIC with 3-0 Win Over Golden Eagles

(Crookston, Minn.)- Concordia University- St. Paul (CSP) entered Lysaker Gymnasium tonight with a perfect 18-0 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) was unable to put a blemish on the Golden Bear season as CSP defeated UMC 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-14). Leading the Golden Eagles offensively was Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) who recorded 12 kills on the night and a team high .360 (12K-3E-25TA) attack percentage. Allison Zajicek (MH, 6-0, SR, Beatrice, Neb.) tallied seven kills and a .312 (7K-2E-16TA) attack percentage. Zajicek recorded two block assists and now ranks second in UMC history in block assists and total blocks. Leading the University of Minnesota, Crookston in assists was Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) with 21. Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, JR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) recorded a match high 15 defensive digs. Leading Concordia University- St. Paul offensively was Emily Palkert who recorded 17 kills and a match high .560 (17K-3E-25TA) attack percentage. Maria Steinhagen followed Palkert with 11 kills and a .529 (11K-2E-17TA) attack percentage. Maggie McNamara had 43 assists on the night to lead all setters and two service aces. Golden Bear defensive dig leader was Mary Slinger who tallied 14 digs. Concordia University- St. Paul had a team attack percentage of .366 (50K-13E-101TA) on the night and had six (12 block assists) total team blocks. The Golden Eagles are now 5-20 overall and 5-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) while the Golden Bears move to 29-1 overall and 18-0 in the NSIC. UMC hosts St. Cloud State University on “Senior Day” tomorrow afternoon at Lysaker Gymnasium.
