(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) took on the Huskies of St. Cloud State University (SCSU) this afternoon on Senior Day at Lysaker Gymnasium. UMC defeated SCSU 3-2 on September 27 and bettered that mark today, defeating the Huskies 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20) and tying the team’s most conference wins since 2004.
 
The Golden Eagles had great offensive production from the entire team this afternoon. Allison Zajicek (MH, 6-0, SR, Beatrice, Neb.) stifled the defense with an impressive 11 kills, Danielle Rueter (OH, 5-9, FR, Burlington, Wis.) hammered down 13 kills in the game to tie a season high. Rueter led the charge at the service line, recording a personal and team season high six service aces to go along with 18 digs. Leading the Golden Eagles offensively was Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) who rocked the gym with 17 kills and an attack percentage of .467 (17K-3E-30TA). Doing the majority of the setting for University of Minnesota, Crookston was Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) who had 49 assists in the game along with 18 defensive digs. Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, JR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) was tough on the court with 20 defensive digs in the game. Zajicek and Meyer were a force to be reckoned with at the net, both recording two block solos to help the team record eight total blocks. The solid defensive performance by the Golden Eagles was evident as the team set a new season high in defensive digs with 91 in the match.
 
The Huskies spread out the offense with Erica Beacom putting away 10 kills. Kayla Tschida recorded a team high of 13 kills in the match. Leading the team in assists was Jennifer Waterman with 40. Team high defensive digs went to Andreana Pieper with 27 for the Huskies. St. Cloud State University had 10 block assists for a total of five total team blocks in the match.
 
The Golden Eagles are now 6-20 overall and 6-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Huskies move to 7-20 overall and 5-14 in the NSIC. Minnesota, Crookston returns to Lysaker Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 11 to host Southwest Minnesota State University in NSIC action. First serve is schedule for 7 p.m.
