(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Hunt Seat and Western Equestrian teams travel to Brookings, S.D. this weekend for a show at South Dakota State University. The Hunt Seat team will compete on Saturday, November 15 starting at 1 p.m. The Western team will compete on Sunday, November 16 starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Hunt Seat team has been off since a stellar home show back on October 25-26. The Western team has not competed since an outstanding showing at South Dakota State University back on October 12.

Golden Eagle Hunt Seat Coach Brooke Leininger is excited to return to action. “I am looking to keep the momentum that we have built so far this year moving forward with a successful weekend at SDSU,” says Coach Leininger. “Everyone who is riding this weekend has a shot at qualifying for the regional championships.”

Lindy Hausauer (Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) and Janice Holdvogt (So, Eden Valley, Minn.) are both within five points of qualifying. This could occur Saturday. The rest of the team is within reach of making the cutoff and going to Regionals. Coach Leininger expects all of them to be at the top of their respective classes. “This is a group of riders who are competitive and wants to win,” says Coach Leininger.

Golden Eagle Western Coach Nicky Overgaard is also excited to start competing again. “This will be our second Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) show of this fall season,” says Coach Overgaard. “I am expecting improvements from all of our riders. We have had the time and practice and to really work on those small problems from our first show. We are looking forward to riding at SDSU, they have nice horses that our riders should do well on.”
