Mike Boebel (Deerfield, Wis.) Signs with Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head men’s basketball coach Jeff Oseth announced today the signing of Mike Boebel from Deerfield, Wis. to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009-10 season.
 
Boebel is a 6-6, 185 lb, forward from Marshall Senior High School in the Capitol-South Conference. He earned recognition in both track and field and basketball in high school. Following the 2008 season, Boebel was named First Team All-Conference, WBCA All-State Special Mention and the Capitol-South Player of the Year. The Capital Times selected him Second Team All-Area and the State Journal selected him First Team All-Area (Division 3). On the track, Boebel earned First Team All-Conference in the 800 meter relay and was a state finals qualifier in the high jump.
 
“Mike is one of the most athletic kids we’ve encountered.  He has the skills to play both inside and out to go along with his athleticism,” say Head Coach Jeff Oseth. “He’s an extremely hard-working player and will be a perfect fit for the Golden Eagles, both on and off the court.  We’re extremely excited about Mike joining the Golden Eagle family.”
 
Boebel is undeclared on a major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Jayne and Mel Boebel.
