Marian College Scores Two Third Period Goals to Upend Golden Eagles 2-1

(Crookston, Minn.) – Marian College scored two third period goals and held on for a 2-1 victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston tonight at the Crookston Civic Arena in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) action.
After a scoreless first period, the Golden Eagles got on the board first when John Lombardi (Jr, Fwd, Burnsville, Minn.) scored an even-strength goal at 1:01 of the second period. He was assisted by Brent Swanson (Jr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa).
Marian College countered at 3:17 of the third period when Lane Boswell scored an unassisted, even-strength goal. The Sabres scored the game winner at 16:41 of the third period when Nick Cinquegrani scored an even-strength goal off an assist from Sean Streicher.
Bryan Dalbec (Fr, G, Superior, Wis.) was solid in net for U of M, Crookston recording 27 saves. Jason Jadczak stopped 20 shots for Marian College.
The Sabres improve to 3-2-2 overall and 3-0-0 in the MCHA. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the MCHA.
The two teams return to action tomorrow at the Crookston Civic arena. The puck drops at 2 p.m.
