Marian University Stops Golden Eagles 5-1 in Men’s Hockey

(Crookston, Minn.) – Marian University opened up a 4-0 lead after two periods and never looked back on their way to a 5-1 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston this afternoon at the Crookston Civic Arena.

 

The Sabres opened the game’s scoring at 16:45 of the first period when Justin Cormier scored an even-strength goal off an assist from Bobby Roseland. At 18:03 of the first, Marian University widened their lead to 2-0 when Kyle Rasmussen scored an even-strength goal off assists from Lane Boswell and Nick Cinquegrani.

 

The Sabres continued their scoring barrage at 5:37 of the second period when James Goodfellow scored a power play goal off assists from Ryan Hitchcock and Rasmussen. Randy Wills made the score 4-0 with an even-strength goal at 9:18. He was assisted by Sean Streicher and Nick Henkemeyer.

 

The Golden Eagles got on the board at 5:52 of the third period when Tyler Wolden (Jr, Fwd, Wadena, Minn.) scored his first goal of the season on the power play. He was assisted by Philip Tesoriero (Fr, Fwd, Boulder, Colo.) and Brent Swanson (Jr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa).

 

Marian University closed out the scoring at 6:54 of the third period when Roseland scored an even-strength goal off an assist from Jeff Wills.

 

Bryan Dalbec (Fr, G, Superior, Wis.) had 38 saves for U of M, Crookston. Jason Jadczak stopped 32 shots for the Sabres.

 

Marian University improves to 4-2-2 overall and 4-0-0 in the MCHA. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 1-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the MCHA.

 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 when they travel to Appleton, Wis. to take on Lawrence University in MCHA action. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. respectively.
