Vikings End Golden Eagles Season with 3-0 Victory

(Sioux Falls, S.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) followed up last night’s match with #23 Wayne State with a match against #22 ranked Augustana College tonight. The Vikings used a .354 (58K-18E-113TA) team attack percentage to end UMC’s season with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) loss.
 
Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) and Katie Bonine (OH, 5-10, SO, Cottage Grove, Minn.) combined for over half of the Golden Eagle’s kills tonight. Meyer earned 12 kills on 28 attempts for an attack percentage of .250 (12K-5E-28TA). Bonine had seven kills on 17 attempts and a team high attack percentage of .294 (7K-2E-17TA). Doing the majority of the setting for University of Minnesota, Crookston was Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) with 25 set assists. Yates closes out her Golden Eagle career third all-tie in assists with 3,514. Danielle Rueter (OH, 5-9, FR, Burlington, Wis.) played solid defense with 11 defensive digs and one block assist in the game.
 
The Vikings had two players in double-digit for kills tonight. Katie Newgard had 10 kills on 15 attempts for a solid kill percentage of .667 (10K-0E-15TA). Ellen Andrews had team high 12 kills on 18 attempts for a kill percentage of .500 (12K-3E-18TA). Lisa Hoegh had a good game with 49 assists from the setter position. Leading the Vikings in defensive digs was Jenna Hultgren with 12.
 
The Golden Eagles close out the 2008 season 6-23 overall and 6-14 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), while the Vikings move to 23-10 overall and 15-5 in the NSIC.
