(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s softball coach Mitch Bakken announced today the signing of Erin Fowle from Winnipeg, Manitoba to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009-10 season. Fowle is a 5-8, pitcher from College St. Norbert Collegiate in the South Central Athletic Conference. She earned the Thunder Heart Award in 2005 and 2006 and was a Provincial Team Player from 2006 to 2008. She earned the Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2007 and was named the Rookie of the Year following the 2008 season. Fowle was recognized as an All-Star Team Player in 2006 and 2007. “First and foremost, Erin brings a great attitude to the team. From speaking with her and watching her play, she is the type of player who wants the ball no matter what the situation is and that is something you can’t coach,” says coach Bakken. “She pitches with movement and does a great job keeping hitters off balance. I look forward to working with Erin next fall and we are excited that she has chosen the University of Minnesota, Crookston and Golden Eagle Softball. Fowle plans to major in early childhood education at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Bob and Estelle Fowle. The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Golden Eagle Hockey is a member of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
