Lawrence University Shuts-Out Golden Eagles 5-0

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team hit the road for the first time this season. Unfortunately, Lawrence University spoiled things for the Golden Eagles in their road debut scoring two goals in each of the first two periods on their way to a 5-0 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) victory Friday night in Appleton, Wis.
Lawrence University got on the board midway through the first period when Matt Jacobs scored off assists from Josh DeSmit and Jon Bellotti. Nick Jennette made it 2-0 with only 2:48 left in the first period when he scored on the power play off an assist from Corey Garrett.
The Vikings put the game away with two more goals in the second period. Garrett's power play goal 14:24 into the period was followed by a Matt Hughes power play goal just 2:53 later to give Lawrence a 4-0 edge. Hughes added Lawrence's final goal midway through the third period.
Evan Johnson had 17 saves for the Vikings while Bryan Dalbec (Fr, G, Superior, Wis.) stopped 51 shots for the Golden Eagles.
Lawrence University improves to 2-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the MCHA. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 1-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the MCHA.
The two teams will resume action on Saturday, November 20 at 4 p.m.
