Huskies Shoot 51% in Victory over Golden Eagles

(St. Cloud, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Women’s Basketball team closed out their NSIC weekend road trip with a game against the Huskies of St. Cloud State University (SCSU). The Huskies shot 51% from the field in the game to take the 94-68 victory.

SCSU forced UMC into 22 turnovers in the game. The Huskies capitalized on the mistakes scoring 39 points off of turnovers. SCSU also played strong down low, outscoring the Golden Eagles 48-24 in the paint.

Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles for the second straight night, tying a game high with 17 points. She was 6-15 from the floor and 4-4 from the free-throw line. Megan Eul (F, 5-11, FR, Rosemount, Minn.), Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, SO, Northfield, Minn.) and Diana Taddy (G, 5-8, SO, Two Rivers, Wis.) closed out the top UMC scorers with 10 points each. Taddy led all players with eight rebounds in the game.

The Huskies had a season high five players score in double-digits. Katie Tacheny led SCSU with 17 points on the night. She dished seven assists and stole five Golden Eagle passes. She was followed by Talisha Barlow and Rachel Booth who scored 15 points each. Krystal Scott and Danielle Ellison closed out the top Husky scorers with 12 points a-piece.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the NSIC. St. Cloud improves to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return home on Friday, December 19 to host Briar Cliff University in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
