Huskies Stay Perfect in the NSIC with 91-54 Victory over Golden Eagles

(St. Cloud, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Men’s Basketball team closed out the NSIC weekend with a conference game against St. Cloud State University (SCSU). The Huskies took the lead early and would not relinquish it in SCSU’s 15th straight victory over UMC 91-54.

The Huskies played strong down low, outscoring UMC 34-20 in the paint. SCSU forced the Golden Eagles into 22 turnovers in the game. SCSU took advantage of the turnovers scoring 29 points to UMC’s seven points off of turnovers.

Joe Pashka (C, 6-8, SO, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with a career high 15 points. He was 5-7 from the field and 5-7 from the free-throw line and grabbed seven rebounds. Matt Pelzer (G, 6-4, SR, St. Cloud, Minn.) led all defenders with 10 rebounds in the game.

St. Cloud was led by Andrew Bernstetter’s 14 points on 6-8 shooting. He was followed by Taylor Witt who scored 12 points and Theo Rothstein who scored 10 points.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is 2-8 overall and 0-4 in NSIC play. St. Cloud advances to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. UMC travels to Grand Forks on Tuesday, December 30 to play the University of North Dakota. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
