(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Football program announced today that 32 players have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009 season. (At release time)

“The Golden Eagle Football staff is very pleased with our initial signing class of 2009,” says head coach Shannon Stassen. “This group of young men has excelled both academically and athletically in high school and we expect the same from them at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. We were fortunate to sign our top rated players at several positions and we expect some of them to be competing for playing time in August.”

This is the seventh recruiting class for Coach Stassen and his staff. “Our top goal this year was to bolster our depth on the line of scrimmage. This class includes players that will be difference- makers on the line of scrimmage throughout their careers,” adds Stassen. “We have also added skill players that could be a factor as early as next season.”

Stassen comments, “The faculty and staff at the University of Minnesota, Crookston did a tremendous job during the on campus recruiting visits this year. The personal touch of UMC was a big factor for many of our signees. Our students truly appreciate the opportunity to receive a big time University of Minnesota degree in a private school setting.”
