Golden Eagle Women’s Tennis Team to Open 2009 Season at Home

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Tennis team will open the 2009 season on Saturday, February 14 with a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match against Minnesota State University Moorhead at Center Court Fitness Center in Grand Forks, N.D. Matches begin at 3 p.m.
Second-year Golden Eagle Head Coach Josh Lunak is excited to get the season underway. “We are really excited to get the season started,” says Coach Lunak. “The team is working hard at practice and we are improving every day. This match will give us a good idea of where we stand in the conference.”
U of M, Crookston finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 0-12 and NSIC record of 0-7. Top returnees include Christa Nitsch (Sr, Becker, Minn.), Melissa Mackedanz (So, Spicer, Minn.) and Megan Hulst (Sr, Crookston, Minn.).
Golden Eagles vs. MSU Moorhead 3 p.m. Saturday, February 14
The Dragons finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 4-13 and placed fourth in the NSIC Championships. Top returnees include Laura Benz, Ellen Matheson, Traci Pesta, Susan Gilkerson and Lexie Moon.
