Golden Eagle Turnovers Lead to 65-39 Bulldog Victory

(Duluth, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Men’s Basketball team struggled to keep the ball safe tonight as the Golden Eagles turned the ball over 14 times. The Bulldogs took advantage of the miscues, scoring 23 points off of turnovers in the 65-39 victory. The Golden Eagles shot 42% from the field in the first half but UMD hit five big three-pointers in the first 20 minutes to take a 31-22 lead into the break. The Bulldogs shot 44.8% in the second half and held UMC to 35% shooting to secure the NSIC victory. Joe Paschka (C, 6-8, 245, SO, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with a career high 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Matt Pelzer (G, 6-4, 190, SR, St. Cloud, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles defensively with seven rebounds. The Bulldogs were led by Brian Sykora who scored 14 points on 7-11 shooting. Sykora led all players with eight rebounds in the game. John Vaudreuil added 12 points and Steve Klass knocked down three three-pointers to finish the game with 11 points. The University of Minnesota, Crookston is 4-19 overall and 2-14 in NSIC play. Duluth improves to 16-10 overall and 10-6 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles travel to Bemidji, Minn. tomorrow to take on the Beavers of Bemidji State University.
