Golden Eagle Hunt Seat Equestrian Team Closes Out Regular Season with Solid Show

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Hunt Seat Equestrian team traveled to Madison, Wis. for a show at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Golden Eagles had a very successful weekend.
Brittney Skoien (Jr, Wannaska, Minn.) and Megan Claybundy (So, International Falls, Minn.) qualified for the Regional Championships in Walk-Trot-Canter. Kelsey Sherman (Fr, Lansing, Mich.), who had already qualified in Novice Jumping, finished out the weekend by qualifying in Novice Flat. Both Sherman and Nicole Veres (Jr, Random Lake, Wis.) will be going to the Regional Championships next weekend in River Falls, Wis. as double qualifiers and competing in On the Flat and Over Fences. Tandra Klein (So, Hazen, N.D.) had two very successful shows this weekend and qualified in Novice Flat. Lauren Snively (Fr, Herndon, Vir.) won her Novice Flat section on day one and took second place on day two. This qualified her in Novice Flat. On Sunday, Snively won her Novice Jumping Class and took second in On the Flat. This tied her for Reserve High Point Rider of the day. Sarah Wells (So, Calgary, Alberta) had her best show of the season on Sunday, taking second place in Novice Fences and Novice Flat. Jessica Biddle (Sr, Elburn, Ill.) also had her best weekend of the season with a third place finish in the tough Open Jumping and Intermediate Flat Divisions on Saturday and a second place finish in Intermediate Flat on Sunday. Heather Fogelson (Fr, Grant, Minn.), who is qualified for Regionals in Intermediate Flat, took second place in Novice Jumping on Saturday. Veres took third place in Intermediate Flat on both Saturday and Sunday. Lydia Lestingi (Fr, Clemons, N.Y.), riding in Walk Trot, had her best weekend of the season as she took second place on Saturday and won the class on Sunday. The team was the Reserve High Point team on Saturday, coming in second behind UW Madison. They took third on Sunday.
The Hunt Seat team’s riders who have qualified to compete in the Regional Championship this weekend at UW- River Falls are Jenae Hanson (Sr, Andover, Minn.), Lindy Hausauer, Brittney Skoien, Megan Claybundy, Kelsey Sherman (double qualifier), Nicole Veres (double qualifier), Heather Fogelson, Lauren Snively and Tandra Klein.
